Public Memory and how we choose to see and understand the past changes over time. Following the end of the Civil War, Confederate Monuments began to be erected all over the South as a way to honor and memorialize those who had fought or were leaders in the war. Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson were three of those who had monuments made in their honor. 

Through this website go back in time and see the changing opinions that people in Virginia had about three specific monuments: the Jefferson Davis Monument in Richmond, VA, Lee Chapel in Lexington, VA, and the Stonewall Jackson Statue in Charlottesvill, VA.
